Halal Fertility Supplements UK: What to Look For

Halal Fertility Supplements UK: What to Look For

If you’re looking for a halal fertility supplement in the UK, it’s worth checking more than just the nutrients on the label. Some supplements contain animal-derived ingredients or gelatine capsules, so the source and formulation matter.

What Should You Look For?

CoQ10

CoQ10 is commonly found in fertility supplements, but not every CoQ10 product will be suitable for a halal diet. Some CoQ10 supplements come in softgel capsules containing animal-derived gelatine, so it’s important to check the capsule and ingredient information carefully.

Vitamin D3

The source of Vitamin D3 can also vary. Some Vitamin D3 is derived from lanolin, which comes from sheep’s wool, while other formulations use plant-based sources such as lichen. If following a halal or vegan diet, it’s worth checking where the Vitamin D3 comes from rather than assuming all products are the same.

Folate

Folate contributes to maternal tissue growth during pregnancy. UK guidance recommends taking 400 µg of folic acid daily while trying to conceive and during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. Some supplements provide folate as 5-MTHF (methylfolate).
